The relationships you build in recovery can mean the difference between a successful recovery and relapse. Addiction and co-occurring mental disorders can make interpersonal skills like trust, empathy and loyalty very difficult. Substance abuse often leads to antisocial or self-absorbed behaviors that cause healthy relationships to deteriorate, while drug- and alcohol-seeking behaviors can lead you to surround yourself with people who aren’t good for you. When you choose recovery at Villa Tranquil, you will find a comfortable and welcoming space ideal for transitional living. Here, women can forge friendships and learn how to connect with others in a safe space. Our counseling and therapy programs can help you build the skills you need to find people who will be there for you as you continue to live a substance-free life.

A Community for Women’s Transitional Living

Villa Tranquil welcomes women ages 18 to 65 who are seeking a peaceful place to recover from addiction to drugs or alcohol. We are a sober living facility, but our focus on comfort and premier amenities make it easier for you to find an inner peace away from the distractions of everyday life. We want our facility to feel like home to you during your stay so that you think of the women and staff here as a family; we are first and foremost a supporting and uplifting community. Through your stay with us, you will be able to open up to others and become a more empathetic and giving person to those close to you. We believe that a comfortable and relaxing environment is the best setting for you to learn to build positive social networks — by eliminating stressors and pressures, you can focus on rebuilding yourself and your relationships.

Counseling and Therapy

One-on-one and group therapy sessions are a hallmark of recovery from addiction and mental disorders. Learning how to talk about your feelings and worries to a counselor and others is essential for your long-term recovery: when you leave Villa Tranquil, you will need to be able to communicate with your loved ones, healthcare providers or coworkers. Counseling can help you learn appropriate ways to express yourself to everyone in your life, and can help you work through socialization concerns like anxiety, poor empathy, trust issues and personal presentation. Therapy also leads you to self-discovery, which in turn allows you to better understand the kinds of relationships you need with others.

Mentoring Program

We encourage women who have been successful in our programs to mentor other women both within and outside Villa Tranquil. These women share their experiences and offer practical feedback and advice based on their successes, and are an invaluable resource to those who have not yet found their way to recovery. A mentor can help you grow interpersonal skills by adding to your support network, giving you a new social outlet and helping you develop a different type of relationship. We often welcome guest mentors to speak at Villa Tranquil so that you have the opportunity to learn about the different women who have come through our program, and we can also help you find an individual mentor who can offer guidance about life after recovery. Our mentors set examples of how the skills you learn at Villa Tranquil, including interpersonal skills, are valuable to your personal and professional livelihood.

Workshops and Activities

We often arrange on- and off-site activities for the whole Villa Tranquil community, from meditation and exercise classes to nature walks and cultural trips. These activities encourage bonding between you and your fellow guests, helping you build your socialization skills and learn how to identify relationships based on healthy shared interests. We also emphasize hands-on workshops on a variety of topics like establishing boundaries, family dynamics, parenting and co-dependency — these sessions encourage an open dialogue about the difficulties that women in particular encounter in their relationships, and how to best overcome them. Learning and developing interpersonal skills often means many awkward attempts at interaction before you figure out what works for you. Villa Tranquil is committed to providing a safe space for practicing these skills where you don’t need to worry about social pressures or judgment. We are a community of women who are all experiencing struggles and worries similar to your own — we are all in the recovery process together, and we can all support each other through it.
