Intuition Is Powerful

Intuition is that feeling you get in your gut when things aren’t quite going right. Your intuition can guide you during a difficult moment or help give you the faith to take a difficult, yet rewarding, leap. “Your intuition is a powerful and loyal companion that’s with you every step of your journey, guiding, advising and protecting you as best it can,” says Annika Rose, author of “Make your intuition work for you” for In The Moment magazine. Continue reading to learn more about the power of intuition and how you can make it work for you.

Intuition Is Innate

During apprehensive moments, your intuition can bring you a sense of peace and calm. During adventurous moments, your intuition can help you take a leap of faith. During unclear moments, your intuition can bring you clarity. Intuition can be a gut feeling, a sense, or a sign. It can come in many different forms, but whatever form it’s coming in, intuition is innate.

“Buried somewhere beyond your consciousness, [intuition] is thought to be an automatic, subconscious form of processing information,” says Rose. “Once activated, instinctive and decisive answers can come quickly, and the best course of action can be triggered and take place before your conscious brain has had the chance to register what or process why.” We all have this power of intuition, but not all of us know how to harness it.

How to Harness Your Intuition

If you’re having trouble harnessing your intuition, you might be so used to focusing on facts that you’ve pushed your gut feeling way down inside of you. It’s still there, but you might have to do a little work to find it. One way is to press pause using meditation. This is when you’re more likely to pick up on your intuition, says Rose. She also gives a few tips on how to nurture your intuition:

  • “Make space”
If you don’t have a space in your schedule for downtime, you probably aren’t nurturing your intuition to its fullest extent. Carve out alone time to give yourself the chance to speak to your intuition.
  • “Get creative”
Allow yourself to create. This can be in any form you enjoy. It’s important to use your senses and the creative side of your brain.
  • “Feel it”
If you’re unsure of where to begin, ask yourself a question that you can answer with a yes or a no. Then, figure out how you feel based on your answer. Then, ask another question. Let these questions guide you to your feelings.
  • “Life lessons”
If you’re still struggling, try to rely on your past experiences to help guide your future choices.
