Self-love is something that we all struggle with. No matter how hard we try, we don’t love ourselves all of the time.

We do the wrong thing, and we make mistakes. The key to self-love is loving yourself even when you’ve made mistakes.

  • “Looking after yourself and doing the things you need to do to feel safe and secure. Not just in terms of your health, but in all areas of your life, such as finances.”
  • “Loving and accepting your flaws.”

Self-awareness and self-love

With awareness comes discomfort. “You may unearth things you didn’t know, can’t remember, or were burying deep sown to protect yourself,” says Morgan.

Here’s her advice to you: “Take your time. Be kind to yourself.” Self-awareness isn’t something that you complete one time, and suddenly you’re permanently self-aware! Nope.

Self-awareness is something that takes time. It’s a journey. In fact, you’ll be on this journey of self-awareness for your whole life. 

The first thing you need to be aware of on this journey are your thoughts. Notice when you begin to talk down on yourself or you are spiraling in a negative manner.

Stopping these thoughts is essential in order to love yourself. This is what Morgan calls “mindful awareness.” This means figuring out your thoughts and feelings about yourself, including your reoccurring thoughts.

Only focusing on your positive thoughts isn’t enough. You’ve got to take into account the negative ones, too. You can learn from both of them.
